Dustin Pike challenge....

I ran across Dustin's blog a few weeks ago and I have to say I have been hooked since I found it. He has quite a few collections of digi stamps I have gotta have. I love all the little dragons and dinos...and being that is something my little guy is obsessed with right now..it is right up our alley. He has a freebie up for grabs every Wed. He also has a blog candy up for grabs right now. It is to pick a child from the Post Pal sight and to make a card to send to them. I picked Tom S since he is the same age as Patrick. This is a fabulous site for sick children.
This is what I came up with. The digi image is one of Dustin's freebies. I used colored pencils and then chalks for the sky. Inque Boutique papers, Studio G stamps, buttons, cardstock, twine and a sharpie. I popped the image up from the page as well. I let the letters kind of free flow on the inside to mimic movement.

Keep an eye out because you will be seeing lots more of Dustin's stamps. I have used a few this week already. My card will be going postal Monday. I am hoping to make 2 more this weekend for Tom's sister and brother as well.

Digiment Challenge!

I have got to admit that I am in love with digi stamps lately. Not that I will ever give up the real thing...but these are so easy and I love that I can adjust the size of them. This is one of the free images from Digiments. They have a challenge going on this month and will be giving away the full June release to 2 lucky winners. They have already placed the next challenge as well. They have some really great sentiments I will be placing an order for sure.
So here is my entry...I used Bazzill cardstock, Chatterbox papers, Bo Bunny chipboard, Prima flowers, Digiment stamp, Distress ink, button, twine, sharpie

Congrats GAB Class of 2009!

My cousin goes to the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon. She has been since she was 11. Her sight and mental disability came about from a car accident when she was 3 months old. It was a miracle she survived and was pretty touch and go for quite some time. She is legally blind but can see some up close. It was a hard decision for my aunt and uncle to make about sending her off to school. She spends the week at school and is home on the weekends. But it was by far the best thing for her. They teach them life skills, job skills along with all of the other educational things they should be learning. She learned to read which we weren't sure would ever happen. She can read braille as well as large print books. It is amazing the changes that have happened in Kristen. We are so proud of her and how far she has come. They can attend until the turn 22 if it is needed. Which I believe is about the average for everyone, really. She will be 22 in June.

Here is the entire graduating class. It was a truly touching ceremony. I couldn't hold the tears back. I can't put into words what I felt sitting there watching all of these amazing young adults working through their disabilities to ac hive one of their goals. Each and everyone of them climbed those steps to the stage and received their diplomas, including the one in a wheelchair. It was so moving to see her determination to walk across that stage.

Here are a few photos we took after we arrived home and the boys had a good long nap. It was rough for them because we had so much traveling to do. We left home at 4:30 am and didn't get back to my aunts until 7pm. It made for a long day with the younger 2. I was rather impressed how well Patrick was with so little sleep...because frankly he is usually a monster if you wake him up. Patrick and I didn't get back to our house until after 10 pm.

The above one is of Kristen with the nephews...(left to right) Jaise, Carsyn and Patrick.
And the proud parents below.

Congrats Kristen! I can't wait to see where all you go in life! God Bless you and we love you!!

Congrats! I will send you a message for your info!

Welcome to the Cards For Heroes Blog hop! This is an amazing site that sends handmade cards to our soldiers. Both blank ones for them to send home to loved ones and also ones with notes of encouragement to our soldiers.
If you haven't checked out their site, please do it is a wonderful cause. I have particpated for the Christmas drive and will continue to do so. I have recently gotten another box together of general cards. They happily accept any amount of cards. I hope you will take time to dig through your box of cards and send some in you can get all the details here.

For the blog hop I have created 2 cards. The one on the left is a blank card for a soldier to send home. The one on the right I will write a little note in to send to a soldier. My 5 year old has also made a card to send.

Supply list-(left card) We R Memory Keepers and Pink Paislee papers, BoBunny chipboard, Thats Jazzy Stamp Dream stamp, flowers, sharpie, twine. (right card) Inquie Boutique papers, Fiskars threading water punch, Dustin Pike digi stamp, buttons, twine, markers, colored pencils

Now on to the details of the blog hop.

If you arrived her by chance I suggest you start at the top of the 'hop' at Cards for Heroes. If you arrived here from the previous link please move on to Inkerbelle's blog for the next stop.

"Hopper" instructions:
1. You're a "hopper" if you're planning on viewing all or part of the blogs—and we highly recommend setting aside some time for it!
2. On Saturday, noon Pacific time, a giant button will appear at Cards for Heroes—linking to the first blog, and that blog will link to the next...and so on!
3. Hop from one blog to the next, and leave a comment when you feel inspired by the card, the patriotism, or anything at all! Prizes will be awarded to someone randomly from comments left, so you'll want to get yourself entered lots!
4. Some blogs will have their own prizes (sometimes called RAKs) for those who comment on that post—keep your eyes peeled for those!
5. If you get lost—if one blogger misposts a link or something happens—go back to Cards for Heroes. They will have all the blogs listed with links so you can pick right up where you left off!
6. We'll have a special treat for those who last through all the blogs!

I will be giving away a little RAK of my own as well. There will be some papers, stamps and who knows what else. I will randomly draw a winner on Tuesday! I will add a photo later on this weekend. I hope you have fun 'hopping' around.

edited...While checking out the blogs on the hop I saw where someone was going to make a card for every comment posted on her blog...I love that idea and I will be doing the same thing. So comment away everyone!

schools out for summer!

Can you believe that school is over? I can't. It seems like Patrick just started and here we are down to the last day of k4! It seems unreal. We do go back Monday for the last day but all we are doing is having a party! Gotta love that. My baby is growing up! T-ball is almost over for the season as well. Soon we will be started swim leasons and I am checking into Cub Scouts, or what ever the age group is he would be in...lol.

Enough of that or I will start crying..lol. Here is a couple of layouts I thought I would share. I did these last month during the Star contest at Scrapstreet. I was honored to be in the ranks with some really talented ladies. I didn't win but I was thrilled to make it to round 4 of 5 before moving to the green room. The "I am Blessed" layout is now one of my favs I think.

Mother's Day

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I did. I woke up to kisses from my little man. We had breakfast at my MIL and then went out to lunch with my aunt, uncle, 2 cousins and one of their families. It was so yummy. We spent the day just relaxin' which is a big change around here lately...lol. I got some pampering goodies which I need to put to good use..lol

I made these two sets for my MIL and aunt. And my dh made them a wooden spinner for their gardens.

I used some yummy Little Yellow Bicycle papers and embossed cardstock stickers, Bazzill and Coredinations cardstock, Prima flowers, Doodlebug brads, Martha Stuart punch, distress ink, bling, buttons, twine and chipboard.

This is a card I made for a recent birthday party. Fast and simple. Bazzill cardstock, scrap of Pink Paislee papers, Heidi Swapp big brad, stamp from Thats Jazzy Stamp Dreams and a flower, cardboard and ribbon.

Spring kits 2 remember project!

This week we are making spring projects. Nothing says spring as much as Easter to me. Everything has just begun to come to life right before Easter here. So I wanted to make a fun little album about our Easter celebrations. I will include pictures from dyeing to hunting them along with some pretty flower pictures as well.
I used four 8x8 chipboard pieces, Basic Grey papers, thickers, various silk and paper flowers, velvet flowers and bugs from Making Memories, Heidi Swapp bling and ribbons (left over from previous k2r kits), and rubons from Cosmo Cricket and Scenic Route along with some distress ink.

I wanted to keep the design so that I can add multiple size photos and either vertical or horizontal shots to any page. I also wanted bright fun colors..I love this paper!

I added lots of layered flowers, bling centers and swirls. I also added bling to the holes in the border punch.

Now I just need to decide which pictures to use. I take way too many...lol.
I have also got some more NSD projects to post...I have been busy this week and just haven't had time to slow down to post anything. Be back later!@

May already??

Can you believe it is May already? Wow...this year is just flying by! Do you have plans for National Scrap Day? I am staying at home and joining a couple of online crops. I get such inspiration from them. Hopefully Nick will take Patrick off to do something after lunch...could I be that lucky??
No matter what your plans are have a great day! Happy Scrapping!!

What about Mother's Day? Plans yet? I have no idea what we will be doing yet. As long as I don't have to cook it will be all good...lol.

I am excited to say that I have a layout in the May issue of Scrapstreet. It is a layout of our dear Smokey...so check out Pet Park.

The metal art board I did for kits2remember is in the May issue of Scrapbooking.com. Woo Hoo!!
