I got to use the super cute Owen dressed in Dads clothes! Isn't he the cutest? I love gatefolds and I don't make them often enough. Of course there is lots of distressing too! On the inside I used the same papers and a retired Stampin Up sentiment. Shhh...this is dh father's day card! I colored Owen with Prisma's and popped him up with dimensionals.

So Patrick has gotten 2 new pets. I know, like we really needed any more..lol. We already have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds and fish! He has been asking for a turtle and to be honest I really wanted to get him one. I always had turtles growing up, and I have a soft spot for them..lol.

Nick went fishing 2 weeks ago and one of these little guys swam right up to the boat and he just reached in and picked him up..lol. So I guess it was meant to be! He is a yellow bellied slider (on the right) Patrick named him Tommy. Two days after we got him and an old aquarium set up for him, Patrick left to go to the beach. I was worried about the little guy not making it until Patrick got home (we couldn't get him to eat). He made it until the night before and apparently our cat out smarted the top of the tank and got him out (that has now been fixed...lol). We searched everywhere. No Tommy to be found. So we gave in to the fact that Tommy was gone. We tell Patrick what happened and go by the pet store to get another one. They were out so we go back on Wed. to get one, a red eared slider (on the left) he is named Timmy. Needless to say 2 days after Tommy disappeared he showed back up running around in our bedroom floor. Poor little guy was so dried out! I don't know how he managed to stay safe from our blasted cat!

A little closeup of Timmy (on left) and Tommy (on right). They are only about the size of a 50 cent piece! Aren't they cute!

SMC easel card

So I decided to play for a bit in my scraproom today since I haven't had a chance this week. I have been busy cleaning/organizing/donating stuff that is upstairs. We don't use it except for the playroom and my scraproom. So it tends to get messy! My friend and her kids will be coming from MS in about a month and I needed to do some massive organizing up there! Of course I got the bug to rearrange my scraproom today also. It will be a few days before I get to create again...lol.
I used Girl feeding Jaden from Sew Many Cards on this one. It was my first attempt at making an easel card and I have to say I LOVE them! I don't know why I haven't done one before..lol. It was easy!
I like how subtle all the shades of pink are. It is hard to tell but even Jaden is light pink! You don't see me useing so much pink very often!

Scrap and Stamp & Stamp, Scrap and Doodle challenges

Its time for a new challenge at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle! This week we want to see something girlie!

I did a layout of a friends little girl. I don't get to do to many girlie pages with all the boys in my life...lol! So when I do get some pics of the few little girls I know I go nuts..lol.

We hope you will play along with us because one lucky winner will win a full sheet of rubber stamps from Sweet Pea Stamps. Be sure to stop by the SSDS blog to see the prize and all of the wonderful cards and more that my DT came up with! They are so talented!

Of course it is time for another challenge at Scrap and Stamp too! This week we also have a fabulous tutorial to go along with our challenge from the talented Pamela! We want to see debossing with at least one stamp! Have you done it before? Have you never heard of it? Well head to the blog and learn all about it and play along!
I have to be honest I didn't really know what it was, but it was so much fun to do! It was easy too and I love the effect! It is something I will be doing again! We would love for you to play along one winner will get a 12x12 paper pack from GCD. Go to the SSS blog to see the prize and what the rest of the fab dt has done! They rock!!

I wanted to do a page about our new kitty, Sophie. I love this pic of her and Patrick so I was trying to do a page that wasn't over the top girlie! I have to say that it isn't quite what I was going for and I am still not totally sure about it..lol I do love all the different dots though!

Here is a little closeup of the debossing. I used an old diecut tag that I was never going to use the way it was. I embossed the entire tag with yellow and then used a Heidi Swapp stamp to do the debossing. A little tidbit of info....if your stamps are stained by ink it may come off on in your embossing powder, it did with me the first time. It took several more layers to cover up the ink but I think that may be due to the light color of the powder. I had planned to deboss Sophie's name but it didn't look quite right, so I stuck with just the crown. I also stamped 2 crowns and added to the page as well.

I hid my journaling behind the pic on a journaling tag.
supplies: GCD Studios pp and diecuts, Prima flowers, Heidi Swapp stamps, Making Memories pin, Doodlebug Designs alphas, Catseye ink, ribbon, buttons, embroidery floss, an old Fancy Pants tag, embossing powder

This one works for the embossing challenge at Kaboodles!

How would you like to win one of these?

Would you like the chance to win a Cricut Cake? I know I would..lol. I have been drooling over this tool since I first heard it was coming out! I could so use this! I do bake cakes on the side, plus for family and of course all of Patrick's cakes. I could really do some damage with this! But anyway, I will quit rambling about that. If you would like to be in for a chance to win one go to Cuttlebug Challenge blog to find out what you should do. You have until April 30th!
Today is Earth Day! Patrick came home from school all excited because they have really been talking up what the kids can do to reduce our impact on our planet.
We do quite a bit to try and reduce, now he is ready to implement more..lol. He reminds me of me when I was younger. I never thought my parents did enough for the enviroment..lol.

In honor of Earth Day I used this adorable Dustin Pike freebie to make a card. You can find the post about it HERE if you want it. I kept it very simple with shades of greens and blues, all from my scrap bin!

supplies: unknown cs, Doodlebug pp, Dustin Pike digi image, ribbon, colored pencils

I had this Duncan with Boy image from Sew Many Cards already colored and laying on my desk. He was just screaming at me to use him..lol. My little nephew has a birthday coming up so I figured it was as good a reason as any. Plus he loves orange and always has a little stuffed duck with him, so it was just meant to be! I must have been thinking of him when I colored him to begin with..lol.
supplies: Three Bugs in a Rug pp, unknown cs, Sew Many Cards digi image, acrylic stamp from a rak

A little close up of Duncan with Boy... I popped him up.

The challenge for you is to use a non-traditional scrap item on your layout. It can be anything you can think. I used 2 types of mesh from Gauche Alchemy, one of them fells like the screen you would use on a screened in porch. It is awesome!!

The journaling reads...Easter '09, Sadly, this is the best pic from that day. But it makes me laugh. It reminds me of the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil monkeys.

They had so much attitude by picture time that day...lol

This weeks challenge at Sew Many Cards is a sketch with a Mother's Day theme. It is almost that time again.

I used Owen with Roses for my take on the sketch of course I had to change things up just a bit. I used some older BoBunny papers, still some of my favs, distress ink, charm from Stamp and Create, Prima, ribbon, Making Memories pins, and a studio G stamp.

I just love Owen, he reminds me a little of Patrick. He was colored with colored pencils and Sansodor. I also popped his roses up. I kept the inside simple with a layer of the same pattern paper and a stamp that says "on mothers day"

Head over to the Sew Many Cards challenge blog to see everyone elses cards!

Patrick had another academic peprally at school today, it is just something fun to help encourage the little ones and keep them excited about learning. Plus it is the last day before spring break! Woo Hoo! They are all beyond ready...lol.

So this will be a short and sweet post..lol. We are getting ready to take the boat out and do some night fishing. Hopefully Patrick will not drive me crazy on the boat, which is usually the case..lol.

I do have a card for you before I run off though. I wanted to color up Cammie and Grace from Sew Many Cards. Isn't she cute? I wanted the focus to be on the image so I kept it pretty simple with a handmade flower, made of the same papers used, pearls and branch punch. I did pop up Grace's bow and Cammie though. Be sure to stop by Sew Many Cards to see all the other precious images that are perfect for Mother's Day!

I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything, I am sorry about that. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day lately. But I am glad to say that the recent PTO fundraiser is over...finally! Now we have a little break before I will get started on the next one.

Today is the day for a new challenge at Scrap and Stamp and at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle! This week at Scrap and Stamp, Lacey owner of Stamp and Create is our sponsor. They are having a Wags n' Whiskers new stamp release this weekend. They are the cutest sports themed stamps. You can see one on my layout below. So be sure to head over to Wags n' Whiskers to see more!

With their release in mind our challenge this week is to do a sports or outdoor activity page. I finally got around to scrapping Patrick's tball pictures from last year. I know the purple looks out of place but I promise his shirt is purple...don't know why it looks blue here?

I kept it really simple. I painted my chipboard letters and then inked them with distress ink. and turned the negative into a ball.

Also, we are having a DT Call at Scrap and Stamp, if you are intreasted stop by the blog and find out what you need to do!

supplies: Bazzill cs, Flair Designs pp, Making Memories chipboard letters, Scenic Route rubon letters, Doodlebug alpha sticker, Wags n' Whiskers stamp, Little Yellow Bicycle acrylic journaling block, Prizma pencils, Sansodor

This week at Stamp, Scrap and Doodle our challenge to you is to use wings...any type, fairies, angels, birds, bugs. I just wanted to show that it doesn't have to be girly. Eventhough that is what comes to mind first for me!
This is one of my favorite Dustin Pike images. I used blue chalk all around the image.

supplies: Dustin Pike digi image, Inique Boutique pp, prizma pencils, buttons, twine and Peebles Inc chalk
I have some big news but I can't share just yet!! Hee Hee, but soon I promise! I know such a tease right??
Well thats it for today, because I have tons of things to get done before tomorrow. We have family coming over for Easter! Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!!!!
